Your music. Your collection.

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 7, 2026

This policy explains how VinylPocket and its developer ("we" or "us") handle information when you use the iOS app.

At a glance

VinylPocket plays music you select. The app does not require a VinylPocket account and does not include advertising, advertising identifiers, or third-party analytics SDKs. We do not operate a server that receives your music library, listening activity, audio analysis, or device motion data. We do not sell your personal information or track you across other apps and websites.

Music and information stored on your device

When you import audio through the Files app, VinylPocket copies the files you select into its local storage. It reads information such as file names, song titles, artists, albums, duration, and embedded artwork to organize your collection and show playback information. Imported files and your library catalog remain in the app's local storage.

Audio samples are analyzed on your device to animate the record grooves and playback indicators. This analysis does not record your microphone and is not sent to the developer. Song titles and artwork may be provided to iOS for lock screen playback controls and supported system audio features.

Preferences, including the interface language, collection layout, and motion tilt setting, are stored locally.

NAS, WebDAV, and audio links

Remote music features are optional. When you add a NAS or a direct HTTPS audio link, VinylPocket connects directly to the server you select to browse folders or download music. Your server address, connection name, username, and selected remote file URLs are saved on your device so that the app can reconnect.

A WebDAV password is stored in the device's Keychain. When authentication is required, the username and password are sent over HTTPS to the selected server. The app does not send these credentials to the developer.

The selected server receives the network requests, including your IP address, requested paths, and any authentication information needed to access it. The server operator may keep access logs or other information under its own privacy practices. VinylPocket does not control those servers or their retention policies.

Remote audio downloads are cached on your device for playback and offline listening. Artwork is read from imported files or completed downloads; the app does not use an external artwork lookup service.

Device motion and permissions

If motion tilt is enabled, VinylPocket uses device orientation data to move the 3D turntable. This data is processed transiently on your device and is not stored as a motion history or sent to the developer. You can turn motion tilt off in the Vinyl Mode menu.

File access is limited to files you select through the system file picker. Local network access is used to connect to music servers you choose. You can manage available app permissions in iOS Settings.

Retention, backups, and deletion

Imported audio, your library catalog, saved source information, and preferences remain on your device until you remove them or delete the app. You can remove records from the collection, clear remote audio caches from Sources, and remove saved NAS connections. Removing a NAS connection deletes its saved Keychain password; it does not automatically delete records already added from that source. Removing a track only from the playback queue leaves the collection and music file intact.

Deleting an imported record removes the app's copy, not the original file you selected. The app does not delete music from your NAS or other remote server. To remove all saved NAS passwords, remove the connections before deleting the app, because Keychain entries can persist after uninstalling an app.

Imported audio, library information, and preferences may be included in device backups depending on your Apple settings. Cached remote audio is marked to be excluded from backups, and NAS passwords use device-only Keychain storage. Backups and third-party file providers are governed by your settings and those providers' practices.

When you contact support

If you choose to contact us, we receive the contact details, message, and attachments you provide. We use that information to respond to your request and resolve the issue. You can contact us to request deletion of support correspondence. Please do not include NAS passwords or other secrets in support messages.
